Reflex Label+ APAC Celebrates First Australian Industry Award with Altezza Shiraz

09.23.2026

Just seven months after printing its first labels, Reflex Label+ APAC has secured Silver at the 2026 FPLMA Print Awards for the Altezza Shiraz label, marking an important milestone for our purpose-built Adelaide operation.

Reflex Label+ APAC has achieved a major milestone in Australia, receiving Silver at the 2026 FPLMA Print Awards in Melbourne for the Altezza Adelaide Hills Paracombe Shiraz label.

Entered in the Labels & Tags – Digital: Wine & Spirits category, the award represents the first Australian industry award for Reflex Label+ APAC and our first award at an overseas industry awards event.

The FPLMA represents the flexible packaging and label industry across Australia and New Zealand, making the recognition particularly significant for our growing APAC business.

The achievement is even more remarkable when you consider how recently our Adelaide site began production.

Reflex Label+ APAC is a greenfield operation, built from the ground up to create a specialist centre for embellished labels, with a particular focus on the wine, beer and spirits market. The first labels came off the press in January 2026.

Just over seven months later, the team was collecting an industry award for the quality of its work.

Located in South Australia, at the heart of one of the world’s most renowned wine-producing regions, the Adelaide facility was created to combine local knowledge and responsiveness with the technical expertise and wider capabilities of the Reflex Group.

The FPLMA Silver Award provides an early endorsement of the skill, craftsmanship and attention to detail already being delivered by the team.

A Label Rooted in the Adelaide Hills

The award-winning label was created for Totino Wines and its Altezza range, a brand with its own strong connection to the region.

Founder Don Totino moved from Italy to Australia in 1968, bringing with him a passion for Italian winemaking traditions and a vision to cultivate Italian grape varieties in the Australian landscape.

In 1998, he purchased 25 acres in the Adelaide Hills and began producing wine. Today, Totino Estates spans more than 100 acres.

That sense of heritage, place and provenance became an important part of the Altezza Shiraz label story.

The brief was to give the wine stronger shelf presence within a highly competitive category while retaining the premium character and integrity of the brand.

The solution combined bold colour with gold foil branding to create immediate visual contrast, but one of the most distinctive elements lies in the texture of the label itself.

Bringing the Landscape into the Label

A screenless high-build topographic pattern was applied across the label surface, creating depth and tactile interest.

Importantly, the pattern is not embellishment for embellishment’s sake. It reflects the contours and topography of the Adelaide Hills, creating a direct connection between the label, the wine and the landscape it originates from.

Combined with the metallic gold foil, the high-build finish gives the label a strong physical presence and encourages interaction. It is designed not simply to be seen on shelf, but to reward closer inspection and touch.

Digitally printed in five colours at Reflex Label+ APAC, the finished result balances visual impact with tactile sophistication, delivering a significant uplift from the previous design while maintaining the premium positioning of Altezza.

It is a perfect example of how embellishment can do more than decorate a label. It can help tell the story behind the wine.

An Important Milestone for Adelaide

For Russell Davies, General Manager of Reflex Label+ APAC, and the entire Adelaide team, the FPLMA recognition marks an important moment in the development of the business.

Building a new label operation from a greenfield site is a major undertaking. Establishing the people, equipment, processes and technical capability required to produce embellished labels takes time, which makes achieving award-winning quality within months of printing the first production labels particularly significant.

It also demonstrates the ambition behind our investment in South Australia.

Our aim is to build a global centre of excellence for wine labels that combines technical print expertise, sophisticated embellishment capabilities and an understanding of the brands and producers that make the region distinctive.

Seven months after printing our first labels, we already have our first industry award.

Congratulations to Russell Davies and the entire Reflex Label+ APAC team, and to Don Totino and Totino Wines, on a fantastic result.
